RCMP Veterans’ Ladies Auxiliary (Vancouver Division) – August 2021 Monthly Report

R.C.M.P. VETERANS’ LADIES AUXILIARY
(Vancouver Division)

MONTHLY REPORT
AUGUST 2021

Possible Ladies Auxiliary Luncheon/Meetings:  Due to the uncertain circumstances around the state of the COVID-19 & Variant Viruses at this time, an executive decision has been made to postpone a September luncheon/meeting for the Ladies Auxiliary, and to wait until the end of September to confirm our first meeting of 2021.  Normally, our September meeting would have been before September 8th when the new Stage 4 of the Pandemic comes in to allow safer and more relaxed rules for meetings.  The decision to hold off luncheon meetings until October has also been made by the Vancouver R.C.M.P. Veterans’ Association Executive.

As of now, we have tentatively booked noon of Thursday, October 7th as the first 2021 luncheon/ meeting for the Ladies Auxiliary at “Hazelmere Golf & Tennis Club,” in the Fireside Room.  The catering staff are now able to provide us with the usual buffet luncheon at a minimal increase in price, and the cost of renting the room will remain the same.  Therefore, the cost will be $25.00 per person.  Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, we have not scheduled a Fashion Show for our October meeting.

Condolences:  We regret to report that Reg. No. 22837, retired R.C.M.P. member, and Member of the Vancouver Veterans’ Division, Cpl. Joseph Lee Whitaker, passed away on January 21, 2021 as a result of health issues but not from COVID-19.  Joe was the husband of our Ladies Auxiliary member, Margaet Whitaker; they have a son and daughter (their spouses), and three grandchildren.  Regrettably, this notice was eliminated from one of our previous Monthly Reports during its printing process.  Margaret, who sends out our birthday, condolence and get-well cards, has been contacted and she reports that she is doing well despite the Pandemic.

Attendance at Luncheon/Meetings:  It is hoped that our Ladies Auxiliary members have been keeping well since we last met in 2019.   Regrettably, some have had to move to residences where they will receive more care, but we are hoping that they will be able to attend some of our luncheon/meetings, providing that they will have access to transportation.  Our Telephone Conveners will be phoning our Ladies Auxiliary members near the end of September regarding the proposed Thursday, October 7th luncheon/meeting.
