Ladies Auxiliary

The Ladies Auxiliary was officially formed on February 26, 1936 in Vancouver, British Columbia, at the request of the Royal North West Mounted Police (R.N.W.M.P.) Vancouver Division, now the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

This was the first RCMP Veterans’ Ladies Auxiliary formed in Canada and celebrated its 83rd Anniversary in April 2019.

We are:

(a) wives/partners, widows, daughters, and granddaughters of retired male RCMP members;

(b) retired female RCMP members (their daughters and granddaughters), and

(c) Associate members (civilian females who have been employed by the Force).

We are a separate entity from the Veterans’ Association with our own elected Executive and projects, but also lend support to the Veterans’ Association.  Our Auxiliary donates financially to Vancouver/Lower Mainland charities as part of our annual Outreach.

R.C.M.P. Veterans’ Ladies Auxiliary Luncheon/Meeting, April 7, 2022: Unfortunately, due to numerous circumstances, we will not be holding our next Luncheon/Meeting on Thursday, April 7th.  We would have only a very small number of members attending on this date which would not make it financially viable for either our membership or “Hazelmere Golf & Tennis Club.”  A number of our regular members and Executive are either away, or planning on being away over the next couple of months, now that some of the travel restrictions have been lifted.  Some of our members also expressed concerns about a suspected new wave of a Variant approaching, imminently.  Therefore, an executive decision has been made to postpone our April 7th luncheon/meetings until Thursday, June 2, 2022.  We have met with the “Hazelmere” catering staff and are planning on having a special luncheon for the June date!

100th Birthday Celebrated by Ladies Auxiliary Life-Member, Helen Brown:  On Sunday, March 13th, Helen celebrated her special birthday at her own home in Burnaby, B.C. with 40 friends and family members in attendance, along with Global News media, a piper, 10 RCMP members, 5 police cars, 1 firetruck and crew plus honour guard, and a representative from the Burnaby Hospital Foundation, amongst others.  To celebrate this occasion, the Vancouver Veterans’ Ladies Auxiliary has made a donation to the Building Fund for the Burnaby Hospital Foundation in Helen’s name, one of her favourite charities.

Koffee Klatches: It is hoped that members of the Ladies Auxiliary are meeting, or planning on meeting,for their regular get-togethers once restrictions are lifted, especially if they can meet outdoors. For those who normally are unable to attend our regular meetings, this is one way in which they can continue to keep in touch with other members of the Ladies Auxiliary.
