Ladies Auxiliary

The Ladies Auxiliary was officially formed on February 26, 1936 in Vancouver, British Columbia, at the request of the Royal North West Mounted Police (R.N.W.M.P.) Vancouver Division, now the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

This was the first RCMP Veterans’ Ladies Auxiliary formed in Canada and celebrated its 83rd Anniversary in April 2019.

We are:

(a) wives/partners, widows, daughters, and granddaughters of retired male RCMP members;

(b) retired female RCMP members (their daughters and granddaughters), and

(c) Associate members (civilian females who have been employed by the Force).

We are a separate entity from the Veterans’ Association with our own elected Executive and projects, but also lend support to the Veterans’ Association.  Our Auxiliary donates financially to Vancouver/Lower Mainland charities as part of our annual Outreach.

Ladies Auxiliary Annual Christmas Luncheon, December 2022:  Due to various circumstances, we will not be holding this annual event this year.  We know that there would be very few members attending at this time, so rather than plan it and then have to cancel, an executive decision has been made to forego this event this year and hope to meet for luncheon/meetings again in the coming year, 2023.

Annual R.C.M.P. Veterans’ (Vancouver Division) Christmas Levee, Friday, December 9, 2022:  Members of the Ladies Auxiliary (and their guests) are invited to attend the Vancouver R.C.M.P. Veterans’ Annual Christmas Levee in the ballroom at “Hazelmere Golf & Tennis Club in Surrey, B.C.  Doors open at 3:30 p.m., buffet turkey dinner at 6:00 p.m., and entertainment by the Vancouver R.C.M.P. Pipe Band at 7:00 p.m.  Cost per person (including guests) is $60.00 cash at the door, and there will be a 50/50 Draw.  The bar is also cash only. The Vancouver Veterans’ recently published book, Duty Done: Memories of Fairmont Barracks will be available for purchase @ $20.00 (including signed copies), just in time for Christmas gifts!  Please contact Vets’ Social Director, Dorothy Martinson @ (604) 261-4630 or to make reservations to attend the Levee. Attendance by Reservation Only.

Condolences:  It has come to our attention that one of our Ladies Auxiliary Life Members, Sarah (Sadie) Anderson of Abbotsford, B.C. passed away in hospital on September 2nd, 2022and a Celebration of Her Life was held on October 19th, 2022 in Abbotsford.  Sadie was the widow of Rtd. R.C.M.P. Officer (0.712), John Marshall Anderson, and is survived by 2 sons and their families, including 4 grandchildren.  Condolences have been sent to her family.

Further information regarding future meetings for our Ladies Auxiliary will be forthcoming In the December 2022 Report.  As in previous years, there will no luncheon/meeting in January 2023.
