RCMP Heritage Centre, Pillars of the Force Initiative

RCMP Heritage Centre, Pillars of the Force Initiative

President Sandy Glenn has asked for the distribution of this message to all our members.

We are also pleased to note that the RCMPVA is heavily involved in the Pillars project and is providing as much support as possible to bring it along.

James Forrest
Director of Communications

As many of you know, the RCMP Heritage Centre in Regina had initiated the Pillars of the Force project in which serving and former members, employees, their families, and other interested parties have the opportunity to purchase a plaque that will be placed on the “Pillars of the Force wall located at the entrance to the Centre. A members name and Regimental Number is embossed onto the plaque and remains a record of her/his service forever. Troops can also group purchase a plaque. Another really important aspect of the program is the Princess Royal Walk that offers bricks with the participant’s details becoming a part of the walkway into the centre.

Al Nicholson is the spokesman for the program and sent me the correspondence below describing how a number of our Association Divisions have purchased bricks either as an individual Division or by joining a group of other Divisions to purchase one.

I have attached a partial list of participating Divisions which also contains a visual of the brick. Along with this, I have attached an application form that will allow for a tax deduction if desired.

Al’s message states: Divisions are most welcome to join in and it would be great to have them join the Divisions listed by placing their Division on the Princess Royal Walk as well.

Vancouver Division started the trend and quite of number of Divisions out here in the west have already joined in.

NOTE: WE ALREADY PLACED THE RCMPVA COAT OF ARMS BRICK ON MAY 23

PARTICIPATING DIVISIONS WILL SURROUND THE VETS COAT OF ARMS:

WE ARE PLACING ONE DIV BRICK EVERY WEDNESDAY

(JUL 1 EXCLUDED).

IT WOULD BE GREAT TO HAVE ALL THE DIVS REPRESENTED WHEN WE OPEN —-TARGETING MID SEPTEMBER.

Six Divisions have secured or are securing an 8×8, $500.00 donation

Five Alta Divisions went together on one 8×8, Calgary also took a single 8×8. Smaller Divs could also go the 4×8 route at $300.
