Unknown Member Photo Appears At Surrey Detachment

1941 - Photograph of an unknown RCMP member

On Friday June 5, 2015, an anonymous person left a 8×10 glossy picture in an envelope at the front counter of Surrey Detachment for Ric Hall.

According to Ric “it is a great picture, unfortunately, there is no name of who left it and no identity of the member in the photograph. By the hand written date it appears to have been taken in 1941. Of note is the lanyard, made of heavy woven string, opposed to the nylon version issued to members today. Of course there is the old collar and shoulder badges and buttons issued in the 1940s. Is it my eyes playing tricks on me or is his Stetson band on backwards….the buckle reversed, due to the band being put on upside down?

If you know who this members is please email Ric at rshall69@shaw.ca.
