We are currently looking for dedicated, driven, and enthusiastic individuals who are retired or retiring from policing (Municipal, Provincial and Federal Police Services). Casual employment to retain inherent police skillset of excellent communication, powers of observation, and accuratereporting.

Insight Risk Services Ltd., established in 2011, provides commercial risk consulting services to the Canadian property & casualty insurance industry, specializing in risk surveys/field inspections of commercial properties with primary goals of identifying hazards and preventing or minimizing insurable loss.

Job Overview

Working under direction of the Principal Risk Consultant, the Loss Control Consultant (LCC) supports our cliental, Canadian Insurance Companies, by providing an overall opinion of insurance risks to assist with the underwriting process. LCC’s perform loss control site inspections of property and casualty exposures in order to outline and assess the risk to the company and toprovide recommendations to mitigate loss potential.

Job Responsibilities

• Ability to work with minimal supervision, based from home
• Arranges and conducts thorough site inspections of properties in accordance with all relevant Guidelines
• Presents inspection findings in detailed reports and discusses findings with appropriate parties to determine risk acceptability
• Acts as a liaison between all parties involved, including insureds, prospects, underwriters, brokers, and others
• Interacts with insurance companies, underwriters, brokers and insureds in a respectful and courteous manner. Professional appearance and dress (business casual)
• Keeps up to date with the latest building codes, bylaws and loss prevention techniques, including identifying educational opportunities and attending courses and seminars
• Performs other duties as required Qualifications
• Retired, retiring, or active Canadian sworn Police Officer (Municipal, Provincial or Federal)
• Relevant experience and/or education (engineering, building construction, industrial skills and electrical/mechanical trades, or similar program would be considered an asset)
• Strong knowledge of building construction types and fire protection systems
• Must own and be desk computer proficient, PC or MAC
• Must own and be proficient with Apple iPad. All inspections are conducted on iPad, logged onto a secure internal insurance reporting site. (Similar to Police Niche reporting systems)
• Must own a cell phone
• Valid Driver’s license, own vehicle, and have a good driving record
• Ability and willingness to travel (occasional overnight trips required)
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written)
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to relate and compare data from different sources
• Excellent planning and organizing skills, with the ability to develop and prioritize effective plans
• Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to produce comprehensive and correct work documents
• Strong customer service skills, both over the phone and in person
• Completed CIP, CRM or a Property and Casualty industry designation would be considered an asset
• Bachelor’s degree in safety management, risk management, business management, or occupational/industrial safety and health would be considered an asset
