Condolence from Vancouver Police Department

The information below is being sent to all Vancouver Division Members on behalf of Vancouver Police Department.

SENT ON BEHALF OF
INSPECTOR PHIL HEARD
EXECUTIVE OFFICER

The VPD stands in solidarity with the Nova Scotia RCMP, as they mourn the on-duty death of Constable Heidi Stevenson.

On the evening of Saturday, April 18th, a lone male suspect began what has become one of the deadliest mass shootings in Canadian history. The incident lasted 12-hours and was only ended after RCMP officers intercepted and confronted the gunman at a gas station; the suspect was later pronounced deceased.

Sadly, the 16 people who were killed includes RCMP Constable Heidi Stevenson. Constable Heidi Stevenson leaves behind her husband and two children. She was a 23-year veteran of the RCMP.

A condolence book has been set up in the lobbies of our Cambie, Graveley and Annex buildings.

Services details will be announced as soon as they are available.
