48th Annual E Division Provincial RCMP Golf Tournament
48th Annual E Division Provincial RCMP Golf Tournament
September 15-18th, 2020 Osoyoos Golf Club
Greetings to all of our serving members, veterans, guests and sponsors.
I am sure your all aware now that next year’s golf tournament will be held here in our little piece of heaven. As the pickers are just finishing harvesting the grapes, we are busy preparing for next years event.
This year’s event with the work of Don Smawley and his team was a great success and we hope to do the same. They struggled with numbers making it difficult to plan the tournament. In an effort to avoid running into the same issues, we are getting right on it and we hope you will sign up at the earliest opportunity to help things move along smoothly. All serving members and veterans that are interested in playing next year: we would appreciate you being registered and paid in full by June 1st. Abiding by the bylaws, as of July 1st we can then open up the field to guests and sponsors to fill the remaining positions. To host a tournament of this size we need to completely take over one of the courses each day to accommodate our players. Without the numbers, we can’t do this. If you know of anyone that was unable to attend this year, or someone who has not been involved, invite them to get on board and join in with the fun.
We are fortunate to have one of the local hotels (The Holiday Inn) come on board as a sponsor. Due to the fact that the owner is a reserve officer he has drastically dropped the prices for our members and guests. They are offering rooms with double occupancy (2 queen beds) with breakfast included for $119.95/night and two bedroom suites with breakfast included for $139.95/night. Because this is still a busy time of year here in Osoyoos with the wine festivals etc., we want to ensure you have accommodation for your visit. We ask that you call the hotel directly yourself and book your rooms. Please mention at the time of booking that it is in relation to the RCMP golf tournament so that you get the tournament rate. Please note that these rates are only available until Aug 15th 2020. When you call, please take a moment to let them know how much we appreciate their generous offer.
The hotel is under major renovations and by the time of the tournament, it will be completely re-done. The information is:

Obviously if you have a preference to your own accommodations please feel free to use them. Listening to feedback at the tournament this year, it was suggested that an extra category be added. This will be our Super Seniors who are 75 years plus. You will be asked for your birth month and year on the registration forms so that we have you registered in the right category. Note: If your birthday falls within September, please let the event organizers know the exact date.
The new BC gaming commission regulations apply to the draws and games that are typically planned for the tournament. In order to be compliant, we will be applying extremely early for the licensing and will be creative on how we will be doing the extra games and prizes. BC Lottery licences specify prize values etc. so we have to get a special license for the main raffle as the prizes will be in excess of their regular licensing. The two main fundraisers will be the main raffle for which tickets are 5 for $50 and which is held on Thursday night after the banquet. The other game we will be doing is the ball toss again. This will be at the cost of 3 balls for $5. This will take place on Wednesday after golf. The only other expense if you wish to participate in is the Deuce pot which you can pay for when you sign in. It will be $10 with all money going back to participants. This information is given so you know what to expect with no hidden costs or surprises. Participation in the additional games is your choice.
September 15th is your practise day. This will also be the skins game. If you wish to play a practise round, it will be your responsibility to call the Pro Shop well ahead of the tournament and book and pay separately for the game. The skins game is an additional $10 and the Pro Shop will collect that as well. Their number is 250-495-7003. Push one for the Pro Shop. Tee times start at 1PM.
The entrance fee of $325.00 will include three rounds of golf with cart, driving range, chipping range, a putting contest, a chipping contest, the banquet on Thursday night, lunch on the course on both days and then the final luncheon on the last day. If you are a member of the Osoyoos Golf Club please inform us for special rates.

We look forward to hearing from you and seeing you here in Osoyoos.
