Update – Challenge Coins

UPDATE

The Vancouver Division is in the process of striking a Division Challenge Coin. The face of the coin will be the Veterans Crest surrounded by “RCMP Veterans Association”.

There were three suggestions for the reverse of the coin:

  1. The Fairmont Building. As you may be aware, this Class “A” Vancouver Heritage building is in danger of the wrecking ball. Please see the postings on our website detailing the history and our Division efforts to save this building.
  2. The St. Roch. Known as the “workhorse of the north”, this historic RCMP vessel is housed in the Vancouver Maritime Museum. The story and voyages of the St. Roch are available online.
  3. The Veterans Wedge Cap with “The Lions” mountains in the background. The wedge cap was adopted by the RCMPVA as a tribute to those members of the Force who served during WWII in No. 1 Provost Company.

At the General Meeting held on October 17, 2019, a vote was taken, and the Fairmont Building was selected for the reverse side of the coin, together with the inscription “Vancouver Division, Established 1913”.
