BRITISH COLUMBIA LAW ENFORCEMENT MEMORIAL (BCLEM)

The 2023 British Columbia Law Enforcement Memorial (BCLEM) Service is on Sunday, September 24th, 2023 in Victoria, British Columbia.  We hope to fill the parade square with members from all agencies to honour our fallen comrades. This year we will be adding our own RCMP Cst. Shaelyn Yang’s name to the Honour Roll.  This Memorial weekend includes a Memorial Golf Tournament on Friday, Meet and Greet at our host hotel on the Saturday night, a Ride to Remember, a Run to Remember and a Brunch on the Sunday Morning at The Union Club.

9th Annual BCLEM Ride to Remember – September 21-23, 2023

Location: Abbotsford to Victoria, BC

Details: The 9th Annual Ride to Remember is a 3-day event starting in Abbotsford and ending at the BC Legislature in Victoria.

Thursday, September 21st – Leg 1: Burnaby to PRTC Chilliwack – 150 kms

Friday, September 22nd – Leg 2: PRTC Chilliwack to Tsawwassen – 136 kms

Saturday, September 23rd – Leg 3: Greater Victoria to The Bastion at the BC Legislature – 100 kms

Priority registration will be given to riders intending to participate in all three days of this event.

5th Annual BCLEM Run to Remember – September 21-23, 2023

Location: Abbotsford to Victoria, BC

Details: The 5th Annual Run to Remember has been expanded into is a 3-day event starting in Abbotsford and ending at the BC Legislature in Victoria.

Thursday, September 21st – Leg 1: Abbotsford to White Rock

Friday, September 22nd – Leg 2: White Rock to Tsawwassen

Saturday, September 23rd – Leg 3: Schwartz Bay Ferry Terminal to the B.C. Legislature

The final 11kms of the run from Lochside Elementary is open to the public who are encouraged to join in with the full-event runners to the finish line at the BC Law Enforcement Memorial at the BC Legislature. This is not a race. It is a run together to show our support for our heroes who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Upon arrival at the Legislature, there will be a short ceremony to remember those who lost their lives in the line of duty.  All proceeds raised go to the National Law Enforcement Run to Remember and all participants will receive a commemorative T-shirt with their registration.

MEET & GREET – Saturday, September 23, 2022

Great opportunity to meet families of the fallen, liaise with members from other agencies, and relax with co-workers.  Traditionally a drop in event, and very well attended, appetizers are provided and there is a cash bar for refreshments.

When: Saturday, 6pm-9pm

Where: Marriott Inner Harbour, 728 Humboldt Street

Who: Families of the fallen and members of law enforcement agencies (spouses & partners welcome)

How Many: Drop in at anytime

BRUNCH – Sunday, September 24, 2022

Need energy to get you through standing on parade for an hour?  For those members who are interested in attending our Sunday Brunch, the BCLEM is hosting a Brunch for families of the fallen and members attending the Parade.

When: Sunday, 9am-11am

Where: The Union Club of BC, 805 Gordon Street

Who: Families of the fallen and members of law enforcement agencies

How Many: First 100 people to “Register” as there is limited space.  Please email ian.parks@abbypd.ca by September 8th to secure your seating.

***Families of the fallen are free, but for everyone else, it is significantly subsidized, and only $10 payable direct to BCLEM Account through e-transfer to ian.parks@apunion.ca (automatic deposit is set up)

Parade Form up: 1215 hours in the 800 block of Government Street, Victoria

Parade Step-off: 1240 hours

Memorial Service: 1300 hours at The Bastion in the Garden of Honour (located at the rear of the BC Legislature Building), 501 Belleville Street, Victoria

Please note there is no parking provided, the recommendation is to park anywhere near the Union Club of BC – 805 Gordon Street (where there will be change rooms)

BURNABY DETACHMENT OPEN HOUSE

Burnaby Detachment is looking for Veterans to volunteer as ambassadors to assist with Burnaby RCMP Open House on Oct 14, 2023 from 1000 to 1500 hours.  This is an initial call for volunteers and further details will be provided as received.  If you are interested, please contact Ron Morse (rimorse021@gmail.com)
