Death by Apparent Suicide
Dear Association Members,
This message is further to our note regarding the death of Toronto Police Service Constable Mike Austin.
In the days following Cst. Austin’s death a poster appeared on one of the concrete bollards outside the Toronto Police Service Headquarters.
The author is a Toronto company, Smith Studios and the sentiment is most appropriate.

BY SO MANY TO SO FEW!
THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO!
Our definition of a hero is someone
who protects our world and
continues to make it a better place,
despite having to see it’s darkest
aspects every day. Our hero
courageously put on his or her badge
each day and sacrifices more daily
than most DO in a lifetime.
WE APPRECIATE YOU,
AND YOU TRULY ARE A HERO!
FROM ALL TORONTONIANS AND SmithStudios
This is so, so sad.
We never know what is going on in another person’s life. Just be kind and gentle to those we encounter.
Offer a sincere hand to anyone who you think may need support. I’ve so often thought life is short, death is forever.
If you think you need to end life do reach out to us. Stay here with us as long as your natural life allows.
There’s no need to shorten you time here.
We are here for you.

My lord that is so tragic.
The death of a Police Officer by suicide just never gets the same press as when a military soldier does it.
No disrespect but a serving military soldier went out with PTSD. As he saw a few body parts and felt on edge all the time.
The member who responded to the Lionel Desmond murder suicide saw things nobody should ever see in times of peace.
The scene of the crime can only be described as horrendous. I won’t go into any more details.
God bless those who serve.
