VAC Warning

Dear Association Members,

President Steve Walker has received an alert from VAC concerning attempts by criminal entitities to acquire personal information from unsuspecting individuals.

The alert, which follows is being sent out to caution you against this latest scam.

Dear Stakeholders and Advisory Group members,

Veterans Affairs Canada is aware of frauds and scams attempting to mimic real federal government services to gain access to personal and financial information.
We take these matters very seriously.

You are reminded that we will never request a Social Insurance Number, banking or credit card information over the phone. We urge Veterans and all Canadians to be vigilant when a person claiming to be from Veterans Affairs Canada asks for personal or banking information.

If you believe someone is fraudulently seeking your personal information, we encourage you to report it to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre and your local police.
