POSSIBLE RANSOMWARE INCIDENT
The RCMP has been advised by Public Services & Procurement Canada (PSPC) that a third-party contractor has been the victim of a possible ransomware incident.
The contractor provides a range of data warehousing and distribution services to government and businesses, including the distribution of RCMP Regular and Civilian members’ pay stubs via E-post.
Investigations are underway and a technical analysis is being conducted to determine if any information was impacted. At this point, there is no indication that RCMP employee information or Government of Canada information has been compromised at all. Pay will not be affected, however the distribution of pay stubs will be delayed while the situation is assessed.
We will provide further updates as soon as information becomes available.
General information on ransomware and other cyber attacks is available through the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre (https://www.antifraudcentre-centreantifraude.ca/index-eng.htm).
