National Police Federation Wins Constitutional Challenge

Unions Within The Force

Dear Association Members,

Our always alert Executive Officer, Ralph Mahar noticed a news posting from the National Police Federation (NPF) that indicates that the Federal Public Sector Labour Relations and Employment Board (FPSLREB) has dismissed a court challenge from the Quebec Mounted Police Members’ Association (QMPMA)   The QMPMA challenged the validity of a decision by the Treasury Board that there can only be one collective bargaining unit for the RCMP.  The Board has now found the challenge of the constitutionality of the decision to only have one bargaining unit is not inconsistent with the Constitution.

The press release from the NPF follows,
