Contract Instructor Opportunity

Retired RCMP members

Thinking Driver is Western Canada’s foremost corporate driver training and fleet safety organization. Based in Surrey BC, we have a rich 20+ year history of serving major corporations and government agencies such as BC Safety Authority, Fortis, TELUS, BC Hydro, Metro Vancouver, Western Canada Marine Response Group, WorkSafe BC and many, many others. We are the provider of driving instructor training to the BC School Bus industry, with a nationally accredited and provincially approved curriculum and we supply government approved courses to other provinces. More can be learned about Thinking Driver by visiting our website www.thinkingdriver.com. We also work with the public and teach new drivers.

Our instructional team consists of a combination of Industry experts, retired or semi-retired law enforcement members and driver training specialists. Team members work as contractors on an as needed basis when they are available and provide training throughout BC.

We are currently seeking individuals interested in joining our instructor team.

Instructors deliver corporate training and driver evaluations in-vehicle and on public roads and off public roads in closed areas typically teaching backing and trailer towing.

Instructors are paid by the day or half-day for training with half days paid at 2/3 of total day rate.

Instructor rates are negotiable based on qualifications starting at $350 daily.

The majority of our activity is focused in the Lower Mainland but travel can be expected. Travel arrangements when needed are handled by our administration and instructors are provided with detailed itineraries. Travel time to teach in other cities or towns is paid.

This opportunity may suit retired or retiring members.

Experience as a driving instructor at Depot and/or other type of instructor experience is desirable, but we value attitude and motivation as much as experience. Other useful experience includes traffic enforcement, accident investigation/reconstruction training. “Presentation Skills” course is a particularly valuable qualification.

You must be able to pass a criminal record check and have a good driving record.
