Golden Horseshoe Division – Food Bank Challenge

The Golden Horseshoe Division Food Bank Challenge

Dear Members of the Association
Following on Golden Horseshoe Division President John Keddy’s challenge to support local food banks during this time of crisis a number of Divisions have risen to the challenge.

London Division has joined Kingston Division in adding a new tack in supporting Women’s Shelters. Certainly an excellent cause in these troubled times.

We are very pleased to continue reporting on the responses of our Divisions to the Golden Horseshoe Challenge and now the expansion of the challenge to a new area. All these initiatives show the tremendous sense of purpose of our Association and the Force in helping Canadians everywhere.

Please be advised that “L” Division of RCMPVA are meeting your challenge.

We have donated $4,000.00 to Food banks across PEI and a number of our members and spouses are volunteering at local food banks and soup kitchens, in particular one member makes a significant physical contribution delivering food to students in need.

The following is an indication of his weekly commitment. “Just to put it in perspective, I just delivered 49 meals today to students in the West Isle family of schools and there was 3 of us doing the deliveries in each package of food there was 3 meals so that would be 147 meals for the kids and I do it twice a week until the end of June.

There is a need for our help and the people that got the meals were very thankful.

In total today we delivered 429 meals to students and we will do that again on Friday. This will go until the end of the school year”

We thank everyone for the ongoing commitment to help our communities in their time of need.
