The tragic death of three RCMP members and the wounding of two others, shocked the Canadian people.

For the funeral service of the three fallen members on June 10, 2014, both the CBC and CTV provided three hour live national coverage.

Both Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Governor General David Johnston were present for the service as well as many citizens of Moncton New Brunswick and thousands of RCMP members and members from other police agencies.

Despite not being able to attend the funeral services in Moncton, RCMP members and other Canadian police departments participated in a special memorial service at various in locations across Canada or held a moment of silence.  In addition, the Canadian flags were flown at half mast for these fallen members.

The details of some of these memorial services are include below:

Regardless of the colour of the police uniform, all Canadian police members mourned the passing of these three members.

According to President Ian Sinclair of the retired Vancouver Superannuated
Police Officers Association, “when we lose members of the policing community in the line of duty, it touches us all personally, say a prayer for the families left behind.”
