(Vancouver Division)
MONTHLY REPORT
November 2019
November 7, 2019 – Ladies Auxiliary Luncheon/Meeting: We met in the “Fireside Room” at “Hazelmere Golf & Tennis Club” in Surrey, B.C., and because it was a rather chilly day, we enjoyed the use of the fireplace. Since this is the month of Remembrance Day, the décor featured red poppies. President Denise Martinson welcomed everyone, and especially our Guest Speaker and Artist, Wendy Mould of Surrey, B.C. Auxiliary member, Violet Holmes said Grace and gave a remembrance for Canada’s Veterans, and especially the R.C.M.P. members who lost their lives or were injured in the First and Second World Wars, and subsequent Wars. She also read the poem, “In Flanders Fields.” Following our buffet luncheon, Artist Wendy Mould talked about the variety of art work that she had brought for display, then she had all of us doing some art work on paper with special pencils, creating designs that she called “doodle art.” It is really quite intricate, and there is a name for each type of design, but everyone did their own version and seemed to enjoy the process. There were numerous blankets/afghans handed in this date for delivery to the “Variety Club” at their distribution centre in Burnaby, B.C. A big “thank you” to all who donated them.

Traditionally, there is no meeting held in January. Guest Speaker will be George Garrett, presenting his newest publication about his own life, entitled, “Intrepid Reporter,” and we will meet in the “Fireside Room” at “Hazelmere Golf & Tennis Club.” With February being the month of St. Valentine’s Day, we usually wear something “red” to our February meeting.
