Public Service Health Care Plan – Rate Changes

PSHCP Rate Changes

Dear Members of the Association,

The following is provided for the information of members currently enrolled in the Public Service Health Care Plan operated with Sun Life Insurance.

Director of Pensions and Benefits, Steve Walker has been in conversations with members of the National Association of Federal Retirees (NAFR). NAFR has advised that new contribution rates for PSHCP benefits coverage will be coming in effective April 1st., 2021.

These are the new rates as determined by the National Joint Council. Neither the RCMP nor their Union have any say in any discussion on these rates nor does the RCMP have any say on the actual benefits. The only influence NAFR has is that they sit on an advisory committee to the National Joint Council. The Association’s perspective on this process was discussed with NAFR and our concerns for such issues as the benefits from the Public Service Health Care Plan. Our concerns and observations are completely shared by NAFR and they are advocating for the same changes in future negotiations between the NJC and Treasury Board.

The rates may be reviewed by clicking here for the National Joint Council website.

These changes are part of a directive from the Public Service Health Care Plan.

Questions regarding these changes may be directed to Director Walker who has extensive experience in the realm of pensions and benefits.
