Keian’s Christmas Wish Toy Drive:

In 2021, the RCMP Veterans’ Association, Vancouver Division, supported Surrey Detachment in the collection of toys and monetary donations which were turned over to the Surrey Detachment “Santa” aka A/Commr Brian Edwards.  Funds in the amount of over $800.00 were collected at our 2021 Christmas Luncheon were Vancouver Division matched the donations received and a cheque in the amount of $1,641.00 was turned over to “Santa”.  Also, several toys which were collected were also dropped off under Surrey Detachment’s Christmas Tree.

Surrey Detachment is, again, supporting Keian’s wish with a toy drive and cash donations.  This is a very good cause and let us help in keeping Keian’s wish alive!

Surrey Members will be collecting toys at any of the Surrey Detachment sub offices from November 14th through December 15th and there will be a public toy drive at three Surrey Superstore locations on December 2nd: Guildford, Newton, and South Surrey from 1000-2000 hrs.  Surrey Members will be taking the toys and donations to BC Children’s and Surrey Memorial Hospitals on December 16th.

This year, all cash donations are being divided three ways:

  • A portion is being given as Toys R Us gift cards to the Blundell (Keian’s) family to complete their toy wish list as they are given a special discount at the store.
  • The remaining money will be donated directly to the BC Childrens’ Hospital and Surrey Memorial Foundations in the name of the Toy Drive.

You could also bring your donation of cash or toys to this year’s Vancouver Division Christmas Levee on December 9 but, Vancouver Division will accept cash donations through Interac e-Transfer from now until December 10, 2022.  If you wish to donate through Interac e-Transfer, log into your financial institution’s online or mobile banking and navigate to Interac e–Transfer. Select the account you would like funds transferred from. Fill out the email address for the Vancouver Division which is rcmpvetsvan@shaw.ca.  Also add in the comments that it’s for the Keian’s Christmas Wish Toy Drive.  If your financial institution requires a contact name, use RCMP Vets Vancouver.

Duty Done:  Memories of Fairmont:

The book will be on sale at the Levee.  This is a collection of stories by members and staff who worked, trained and resided at the old Fairmont Barracks.  The project, edited by Donna Morse & Ric Hall, has been in the works for a couple of years and is now available.  All proceeds of the sales go to the RCMP Heritage Centre.
