CHALLENGE COINS

The Vancouver Division is in the process of striking a Division Challenge Coin and we need the input of our membership in finalizing a design.

The face of the coin would be the RCMP Veterans Association crest similar to that depicted.  The inscription would read “RCMP Veterans Association, Vancouver Division, Established 1913”.

We have narrowed the back of the coin to 3 choices, pending any other suggestions.  The back of the coin would reflect our association with the Force and something unique to the Lower Mainland/BC.

Suggestions are:

1.  The Fairmont Building.  As you may be aware, this Class “A” Vancouver Heritage building is in danger of the wrecking ball.  Please see the postings on our website detailing the history and our Division efforts to save this building.
2.  The St. Roch.  Known as the “workhorse of the north”, this historic RCMP vessel is housed in the Vancouver Maritime Museum.  The story and voyages of the St. Roch are available online.
3.  The Veterans Wedge Cap with “The Lions” mountains in the background.  The wedge cap was adopted by the RCMPVA as a tribute to those members of the Force who served during WWII in No. 1 Provost Company.

Please bring your suggestions to our General Meeting on Thursday, October 17, 2019  at Hazelmere or email to rcmpvavancouver@gmail.com.  We will discuss and vote on our challenge coin at our meeting.
