April 23 – 30: Gone But Not Forgotten

 

 

 

When a RCMP Veteran passes away – their old colleagues pause for a moment to reflect on the good times they had and the memories they created.

 

 

 

 

 

Despite the times that deceased member was serving their communities and away from their families, the Veteran’s family members are extremely proud of the contributions made by the recently departed.

The following individuals have passed away on the past few weeks:

Gordon Dalton - RCMP Superintendent

 

 

#14814 – Retired Chief Superintendent Gordon Louis DALTON passed away on April 26, 2017 in Abbotsford, BC.

Gord joined the Force on December 2, 1946 and served in “D”, “HQ” and “E” Division prior to his retirement  on November 29, 1978.  His last position in the Force was as the CIBO for District #2 in Victoria.

In 1954 and stationed at Beausejour Detachment, then Constable Dalton drove into Winnipeg and reported to Supt. Wonnacott (OC Winnipeg Subdivision) that Cpl. Singleton (NCO ic Beausejour Detachment was so unreasonable that he could not work for him  The actions of Constable Dalton was an unprecedented action in those days.  THE OC listened then transferred Singleton to desk duty in the Winnipeg Radio Room.  Senior NCOs sent a delegation to the Commanding Officer (A/Commissioner Bullard) on behalf of Cpl. Singleton which let to the transfer of Supt. Wonnacott to Kamloops Sub Division. – You can read his obituary here.

Brian William Besson - RCMP Veteran

 

 

#26100 – Retired Corporal Brian William BEESON passed away on April 21, 2017 at the Peace Arch Hospital in White Rock, BC.

Brian joined the Force on September 8, 1967 and served in “E” and “F” Divisions until his retirement on February 7, 1992.  After retiring, he joined the Vancouver Transit Commission Security in 1995.   – You can read his obituary here

 

 

#15208 – Retired Staff Sergeant Austin Eugene ‘Gene’ TRAYNOR passed away on April 224, 2017 at Ottawa Ontario.

Gene joined the Force on March 10, 1948 and served in “HQ”, “K”, “F”, and “C” Divisions prior to his retirement on June 12, 1967. – You can read his obituary here

 

 

#26988 – Retired Staff Sergeant David Edward FRANKLIN passed away on April 26, 2017 at Aurora, Ontario.

Dave joined the Force on January 15, 1969 and served in “F”, “Depot”, “HQ” and “O” Divisions prior to his retirement on July 25, 2003. – You can read his obituary here.
